Final Girls' Brigade

So last Friday, 22nd March, was my last Girls' Brigade evening at 1st Torquay.  I've been leading this GB group since September 2006 and have seen lots of girls come through.  It's been an experience in lots of varied ways and I've learnt loads.  Like how to have a vision for something that others may not understand but still stick with it.  Like how to work alongside people who may not have a similar take on things to you.  It's been a great place for me to learn leadership skills and I've loved every minute of it.  Most Fridays I would think 'I'm mad for doing this after working all week' but I never regretted giving up my Friday evenings and seeing these girls grow not just in physical age and maturity but also in their awareness of the Christian faith.  It's been a pleasure to have had the privilege to work alongside lots of great leaders and helpers at 1st Torquay over the last 6.5 years and to work with the fantastic group of girls who come along.  It's also been great how another leader, who 'gets' what GB is about, has come forward to lead the group - thank you Donna :)

I'm going to miss GB!

This is the start of the 'finals' in the run up to my departure to Chad and these endings are not easy......but I know that they are right thing for me at this point in my life.

This week is my final week in my flat in Torquay.....and the next thing that I am going to have to leave!

Welcome to my blog!

Thanks for visiting my blog!  I hope to keep you up to date with what I am up to in N'Djamena, Chad.  I am going to Chad with BMS World Mission www.bmsworldmission.org and fly from Heathrow, via Paris, to N'Djamena on Tuesday 30th April 2013.  I will be living and working just outside N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, at a hospital called L'Hopital de Guinebor II.  I will be working with the pharmacy staff there to help them with stock control of medicines.  It's going to be an interesting adventure with lots of ups and downs I'm sure, but I'm looking forward to the challenge!

It doesn't usually look this green!

There is a lot to be done before I go and so the first few blog entries will no doubt focus on what I'm up to in the UK prior to 30th April!

Thanks for joining me in the journey :)
